Mission
The Gettysburg Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit philanthropic, educational organization operating in partnership with the National Park Service to preserve Gettysburg National Military Park and Eisenhower National Historic Site, and to educate the public about their significance.
Strategic Plan
Our strategic plan for 2024-2029, approved by the Gettysburg Foundation Board of Directors, reflects our support for the National Parks at Gettysburg and efforts in the areas of technology, diversity, partnerships and revenue. Our strategic plan has been developed based on our continued support of Gettysburg National Military Park and Eisenhower National Historic Site, focusing on preservation, protection, interpretation, education, visitation, engagement and revenue.

Preserve, Protect & Interpret National Park Service Sites
- Consistently donate to the National Park Service
- Link the Gettysburg Foundation and National Park Service websites
- Tell more diverse stories, recruit staff and board members with a wider range of backgrounds and experiences
- Work collaboratively with organizations working in national battlefield preservation
- Focus fundraising, preservation and interpretation at National Park Service and Gettysburg Foundation assets

Enhance Preservation
- Identify new preservation projects with the National Park Service
- Use technology to more cost effectively preserve and interpret Park assets
- Preserve and display Park assets in ways that will affect diverse audiences and perspectives
- Work collaboratively with organizations working in national battlefield preservation
- Focus fundraising on ways to enhance preservation and interpretation

Happy & Engaged Visitors
- Assist the park in rotating and renewing Museum & Visitor Center exhibits, both interactive and static
- Offer robust interpretation through technology at all National Park Service sites
- Create and enhance interpretation to connect the Gettysburg story to the present day
- Promote other historical perspectives - particularly from immigrant and other diverse communities
- Grow revenue streams from Gettysburg Foundation assets

Increase Visitation & Engagement
- Coordinate marketing efforts and education outreach with the National Park Service
- Become fully digital to ensure easier and equitable access to Park assets
- Increase and expand park visitation of core and new audiences
- Develop mutually beneficial marketing efforts with local, regional and national organizations
- Design products, paid and free programming that resonate with core and new audiences

Revenue
- Continue revenue sharing with the National Park Service
- Create multiple earned revenue streams using digital technology, and product and licensing agreements
- In conjunction with the National Park Service, provide meaningful products and programs that will attract diverse visitors
- Grow governmental, foundation and private support for the Gettysburg Foundation and the National Park Service
- Continue to expand the Friends of Gettysburg base, the Guardians Society and general philanthropy to establish an endowment

About Us
The Gettysburg Foundation is the official non profit partner of the National Parks at Gettysburg. We work in partnership to enhance the preservation and understanding of the heritage and lasting significance of Gettysburg through the Foundation's public outreach and private financial support for Gettysburg National Military Park and Eisenhower National Historic Site.
We own and operate, in partnership with the National Park Service, the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum & Visitor Center. The Foundation owns and operates historic sites and experiences where visitors experience history related to the Civil War, the Battle of Gettysburg and the stories, connections and importance these sites have in our American history.
Board of Directors
Entrusted with the strategic leadership and governance of Gettysburg Foundation, the Board of Directors consists of prominent business executives, distinguished educators, benevolent philanthropists and renowned authors, photographers and journalists.
