Working to Preserve History

The Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center was designed and built to provide a proper and permanent home for the Gettysburg National Military Park’s collection of Civil War artifacts and to provide a comfortable environment from which visitors could learn about and contemplate the scope and magnitude of the sacrifices made at Gettysburg during the Battle of Gettysburg within the context of the causes and consequences of the American Civil War.

A computer resource room gives visitors access to information about the people, the Battle of Gettysburg, the artifacts collection at Gettysburg National Military Park, and the Gettysburg battlefield monuments.

Ford Motor Company Fund Education Center

The Ford Motor Company Fund Education Center, sponsored by the Ford Motor Company Fund, provides dedicated classroom space for Gettysburg National Military Park teacher workshops, classroom use and distance learning programs.

LEED Gold Certification

The Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center was designed to meet LEED performance certification and was awarded gold level certification in 2010. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification is determined by the U.S. Green Building Council, which sets voluntary standards for high performance, sustainable buildings.
