Martin Luther King, Jr. Day at Children of Gettysburg 1863®
Jan 5, 2024
The Gettysburg Foundation is pleased to offer area residents and visitors to Gettysburg a special opening of Children of Gettysburg 1863® on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 15, 2024. Open noon until 5 p.m., Children of Gettysburg 1863® presents families a one-of-a-kind interactive history adventure. A special story time for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday featuring books about the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. will be read to visiting families at 1 p.m. inside the children’s history museum.
The interactive adventure for young historians tells the engaging stories of children, teens and young adults who lived in the town of Gettysburg and the surrounding area during and after the Battle of Gettysburg. Families have the chance to experience engaging first-hand accounts from numerous young residents from 1863, including Albertus McCreary, Sadie Bushman and Tillie Pierce, to name a few.
During a visit to Children of Gettysburg 1863®, families are introduced to Gettysburg and its significance while supporting a new generation of young learners on an interactive start to a lifetime of learning, inspiration and creativity. Families can enjoy the story time Monday, Jan. 15, 2024, at 1 p.m. and experience the museum adventure before or after the story time. Story time is free for ticket holders.
The Children of Gettysburg 1863® museum adventure currently offers free admission for children/youth ages 12 and younger when accompanied by a ticketed adult.
