After a two-year hiatus during the Covid-19 pandemic, Gettysburg National Military Park and the Gettysburg Foundation are pleased to announce the Katherine Mabis McKenna Foundation Resource Room will reopen on Friday, April 15, 2022, in the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum & Visitor Center.

Located next to the Group Lobby inside the Museum & Visitor Center, 1195 Baltimore Pike, Gettysburg, volunteers of Gettysburg National Military Park and the Gettysburg Foundation will jointly staff the McKenna Resource Room. The resource room will now be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
Thanks to powerful databases supplied by Ancestry.com and Fold3.com, visitors can now connect to resources that aid in facilitating archival information on a family relative, a regiment, a monument and other basic Civil War information.

Gettysburg Foundation President and CEO Wayne E. Motts noted, “The Katherine Mabis McKenna Foundation Resource Room is the perfect place for the Gettysburg visiting public and community to get in touch with their Civil War ancestry. We appreciate the opportunity given to the Foundation by our National Park Service partner to work together in staffing and maintaining the resource room.”
The resource room has been updated with new equipment, and volunteers will be available to help visitors to Gettysburg research a relative or soldier who may have fought in the Battle of Gettysburg or the Civil War. The resource room is free and open to the public.
