A Heartfelt Thank You for GivingTuesday 2022 Donations
November 30, 2022
The Gettysburg Foundation joined organizations worldwide on GivingTuesday for a global day of giving on Nov. 29. The Foundation’s GivingTuesday campaign initiative raised funds to help continue and grow Gettysburg National Military Park’s Traveling Trunks Program.

Thanks to the contributions of so many, a generous Challenge Grant contribution from David Wilkins and Shelly Malecha, the Foundation has exceeded its goal of $25,000 this GivingTuesday. With last-minute gifts still coming in, we will travel the trunks filled with materials and hands-on history activities to classrooms for school years to come. Every donation received will go toward funding this valuable educational resource, including shipping costs, replacement materials and new trunks to reach even more classrooms across the nation.

“We are grateful for the support for our efforts and the generosity of our community of residents, our Friends across the country and our visitors,” said Gettysburg Foundation President and CEO Wayne E. Motts. “Because of the generosity of so many, the Traveling Trunks Program will continue to provide educational materials for classrooms across the country, and our National Park Service partner will be able to grow the program by adding trunks to reach more students with history education. The outstanding support shown yesterday is inspiring for the program and for students in classrooms near and far,” added Motts.

The Gettysburg Foundation thanks all who joined our efforts this #GivingTuesday to help #TravelTheTrunks.
