Winter Programs Return to the Museum & Visitor Center in 2022

December 23, 2021

Visitors to the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum & Visitor Center have the opportunity to attend Gettysburg National Military Park 2022 winter programs.

Gettysburg National Military Park winter programs begin Saturday, Jan. 8. Park staff and invited historians will once again present the Winter Lecture Series, as well as the popular Winter Reading Adventures program, designed for children ages 4 to 10 and their families.

The 2022 Winter Reading Adventures theme, True Tales & Trailblazers from American History features a new children's book each weekend.

Winter Reading Adventures will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturdays in the Museum & Visitor Center from Jan. 8 through Feb. 26, 2022. UPDATE: Out of precaution, the Winter Reading Adventures program will be livestreamed only until further notice. Join us on Gettysburg National Military Park Education Facebook page Saturday mornings at 11 a.m., for a livestream book reading and for a follow-up activity to do at home.

The popular Winter Lecture Series features National Park Service rangers and historians from across the region. The 10-week series of presentations examines pivotal individuals, events and locations from the American Civil War era.

Winter Lecture Series presentations will take place from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays in the Museum & Visitor Center from Jan. 8 through March 12, 2022. PLEASE NOTE: The Winter Lecture Series programs only will remain in-person, and will also be livestreamed. For more information visit nps.gov/gett.

Presented at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum & Visitor Center, the free 2022 winter programs are open to the public. Seating is available on a first come, first served basis. Free tickets are required and available the day of each presentation at the Museum & Visitor Center.
