Holiday Hours & Special Opening at Children of Gettysburg 1863

As families plan their visit to Gettysburg during the holiday season, please be advised Children of Gettysburg 1863 is closed on Christmas Eve, Friday, Dec. 24, 2021, on Christmas, Saturday, Dec. 25, 2021 and on New Year’s Day, Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022.

Children of Gettysburg 1863 will reopen on Sunday, Dec. 26 at noon after Christmas and on Sunday, Jan. 2 at noon in the new year.

The Gettysburg Foundation is pleased to offer local residents and visitors to Gettysburg a special opening of Children of Gettysburg 1863 during the week between Christmas and New Year's, Sunday, Dec. 26 through Saturday, Dec. 31, 2021. Open daily, noon until 5 p.m., Children of Gettysburg 1863 offers families a unique, interactive history experience while children are off from school during the long holiday break.

The all-new interactive adventure for young historians tells the engaging stories of children, teens and young adults who lived in the town of Gettysburg and the surrounding area during and after the Battle of Gettysburg. Families have the opportunity to experience engaging first-hand accounts from a number of young residents from 1863 including William Bayly, Albertus McCreary, Sadie Bushman and Tillie Pierce.

During a visit to this interactive children's history museum, families are introduced to Gettysburg and its significance while supporting a new generation of young learners on an interactive start to a lifetime of learning, inspiration and creativity.

The Children of Gettysburg 1863 experience currently offers free admission for children/youth ages 12 and younger when accompanied by a ticketed adult. Tickets are available by calling 877-874-2478, online, at the Ticket Counter inside the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum & Visitor Center and on-site at Children of Gettysburg 1863 located at 451 Baltimore Street in downtown Gettysburg, Pa.

Children of Gettysburg 1863 will resume its regular winter hours of Thursday through Sunday, noon until 5 p.m. starting Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022.
