Visitors to the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum & Visitor Center have the opportunity to learn about Civil War era dancing and artifacts. The Victorian Dance Ensemble, the performing troupe of the Civil War Dance Foundation, will present Christmas in the 1860s Friday, Nov. 26, 2021, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The Ensemble performs dances of the 1860s. Guests visiting the Museum & Visitor Center have the opportunity to see dance demonstrations at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. in the Group Lobby.
The Civil War Dance Foundation’s display features civilian artifacts, including dance cards, hand fans, Victorian jewelry and 19th century photographs. The Civil War Dance Foundation also displays a recreated period table-top Christmas tree with homemade ornaments and a soldier’s box to show what would have been sent to troops in the field.
The Civil War Dance Foundation presents the dance demonstrations and artifacts as part of its educational outreach programming.
