Gettysburg Foundation Announces Two Appointments to Board of Directors

Gettysburg Foundation unanimously elected two members to its Board of Directors at its March meeting. The new members are Donald P. Brennan, effective immediately, and H. Turney McKnight, effective June 2019.
“We are pleased to welcome Donald and Turney to the Gettysburg Foundation Board of Directors,” said Gettysburg Foundation president Matthew C. Moen, Ph.D. “Both bring a passion for Gettysburg and a lifetime of significant achievement to the board.”
Donald P. Brennan
Brennan is retired chair and CEO of Morgan Stanley Capital Partners, holding executive positions within Morgan Stanley for more than three decades, while still remaining active as an advisory director. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Brennan served as chair of Canadian International Paper Co. and Waterford Wedgwood Pic; vice-chair of International Paper Company and ICT Group; and, director of numerous corporations. President Gerald Ford and President Jimmy Carter appointed Brennan to Presidential Commissions. Public service includes chair of the Maritime College Board of Trustees, vice chair of St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center of New York Board of Trustees, and service on the United States Naval Institute’s Board of Directors. A former Commanding U.S. Navy Intelligence Officer, Brennan earned a Bachelor of Science from Maritime College and an MBA from Baruch College.
H. Turney McKnight
McKnight returns after a brief interregnum to the Gettysburg Foundation Board of Directors after many years of prior service. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Cornell University and a J.D. from the University of Michigan, creating a highly successful law practice. His many public service roles include president of the Sumner T. McKnight Foundation and service on the Board of Directors of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation where he has been a member for the past 35 years. McKnight also serves as Director for the Chesapeake Conservancy and the Harford Land Trust. He is a member of the Elkridge-Harford Hunt Club and Race Chairman of My Lady’s Manor Steeplechase Event.
Moen stated, “The addition of these two public-spirited citizens greatly strengthens our work to sustain and preserve Gettysburg National Military Park and the Eisenhower National Historic Site, to educate the public about their historic and contemporary significance, and drawing lessons from past conflict, to advance thoughtful messages of conciliation and civility during this difficult time in our democracy.”
