Dedication Day 2019

November 12, 2019

November 19 marks the anniversary of the dedication of the Gettysburg Soldiers’ National Cemetery. President Abraham Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address at the cemetery’s dedication in 1863. Events commemorating the anniversary include:

David Wills House & Gettysburg Lincoln Railroad StationTM Open House
Monday, Nov. 18, 6 – 8 p.m.

The open house, sponsored by Gettysburg Foundation, allows visitors to explore the Gettysburg Lincoln Railroad StationTM where President Abraham Lincoln arrived for the dedication of the Gettysburg Soldiers’ National Cemetery, and to see the David Wills House, the home where Lincoln stayed the night prior to delivering his Gettysburg Address.

Dedication Day Ceremonies
Tuesday, Nov. 19, 10:15 a.m.

Dedication Day 2019 ceremonies commemorating the 156th anniversary of President Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address and the dedication of the Gettysburg Soldiers’ National Cemetery begin with a wreath laying at the Soldiers’ National Monument. The formal program and keynote address by Michael Beschloss, award-winning presidential historian, scholar of leadership and bestselling author, follow at the Rostrum at 10:30 a.m. The event is sponsored by Gettysburg National Military Park, the Lincoln Fellowship of Pennsylvania, Gettysburg Foundation and Gettysburg College.
