Gettysburg Foundation announced today that on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019, from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., it is hosting actor Stephen Lang in the Gettysburg Museum Bookstore at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum & Visitor Center. Lang portrayed Gen. Pickett in the movie “Gettysburg”.
Lang, an acclaimed stage and screen actor, will be in the bookstore signing copies of his works including “The Gettysburg Story: Battlefield Auto Tour,” that features Lang as the voice. Later that evening during a private event, Lang will be honored as the inaugural recipient of The Kinsley Award.
Lang’s award-winning Broadway performances include “A Few Good Men”, “Death of a Salesman”, and “The Speed of Darkness”. His many films include “Last Exit to Brooklyn”, “Tombstone”, “Gettysburg”, “Gods and Generals”, “Public Enemies”, “Don’t Breathe” and “Avatar”. He recently starred in “Mortal Engines” with Peter Jackson and is currently filming four “Avatar” sequels for James Cameron.
In 2018, Lang presented his “Medal of Honor” trilogy as part of Great Conversations at Gettysburg. “His Dark Land” is the final piece of the trilogy, which was preceded by “Beyond Glory”, about World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, and “The Wheatfield” about the Civil War. He is currently working on a project to turn the story of “The Wheatfield” into a book for young readers.
