Sherwin-Williams Senior Management Explored Leadership Lessons on the Gettysburg Battlefield

December 2, 2018

More than 20 senior leaders from across The Sherwin-Williams Company participated in the Gettysburg Foundation’s leadership training program, “In the Footsteps of Leaders,” at Gettysburg National Military Park.

Gettysburg Foundation’s program “In the Footsteps of Leaders” allowed Sherwin-Williams’ leadership participants to understand the challenges faced by commanders at the Battle of Gettysburg and use those lessons to explore ways to navigate the changing business landscape of today.

Led by Sue Boardman, Licensed Battlefield Guide and Director of the Gettysburg Foundation’s Executive Leadership Program, participants were treated to an immersive guided tour of the battlefield exploring the leadership styles of various personalities that played critical roles at the Battle of Gettysburg.

During the closing session of the program Boardman stated, “The Foundation is proud that Sherwin-Williams returned to Gettysburg to explore how decisions made during the battle can help business leaders better prepare for today’s business challenges.”

A lead sponsor of the creation of the award-winning, LEED-Gold-certified Museum and Visitor Center, Sherwin-Williams continues to provide a specially formulated paint, Gettysburg Green, that is used in the restoration of the more than 400 cannons and carriages displayed across the 6,000-acre Gettysburg National Military Park.
