Remembrance

Your flag will stand at the Eternal Light Peace Memorial as a public act of remembrance, visible among thousands of commemorative flags displayed between Nov. 12-23, 2026. Together, they create a powerful tribute to those who served and sacrificed.

Participation

The field grows one flag at a time, and your participation brings the installation to life. Each sponsored flag becomes part of a collective tribute in remembrance of those who fell, at a memorial that invites reflection on the healing, reconciliation and unity that followed the Battle of Gettysburg.

Preservation

By sponsoring a flag, you help preserve Gettysburg's historic places and support educational experiences that inspire understanding of sacrifice, citizenship and our shared national story. Your sponsorship supports the reopening of the David Wills House and the preservation of the Eternal Light Peace Memorial.

A Public Act of Remembrance

The field will stand from Nov. 12 through Nov. 23 near the Eternal Light Peace Memorial, a place where the work of remembering, and the responsibility it carries, continue.


Proceeds support the Gettysburg Foundation's work, in partnership with the National Park Service, to preserve these historic places and inspire understanding of sacrifice, citizenship and the enduring responsibilities of democracy.

Gettysburg asks each generation to remember what was sacrificed here and what it still requires of us. This campaign creates a way for people across the country to participate in that remembrance together.

Why A Field of Remembrance Matters

The Battle of Gettysburg left more than 51,000 Americans dead, wounded, captured or missing—the highest number of battlefield casualties of the Civil War. This ground still holds that cost.

Gettysburg is not only where the nation faced its greatest test. It is where each generation returns to confront what that sacrifice requires of us now. 

As the country celebrates the 250th anniversary of its founding, we invite you to remember those who sacrificed here and help preserve the places that carry their stories forward.
