"Courtyard Chats" at Historic Rupp House, April - September, 2014

The Historic Rupp House, located at 451 Baltimore Street in Gettysburg, was home to John and Caroline Rupp and their six children.  During the Battle of Gettysburg, Caroline fled the area with their six children but John remained behind in the cellar – hiding from the bullets that were passing through their home with Union soldiers on his front porch and Confederate soldiers on his back porch.  The Rupp House survived the fighting and Caroline soon returned with their family to take up life in a new and forever-changed environment.

Sponsored by the Gettysburg Foundation, speakers and historians will be offering “Courtyard Chats” in the courtyard at the rear of the Rupp House, every Saturday at 7:00 p.m., April 19 – September 27.  These talks will last approximately one hour.  A list of scheduled topics appears below.

These events are free and open to the public.
