Start at the Visitor Center.

The Museum and Visitor Center at Gettysburg National Military Park is the best place to start your visit to Gettysburg. Here you will find the National Park Service Information Desk, Visitor Center activities, ticket sales, Museum Bookstore, Refreshment Saloon and restrooms. Entrance to the Visitor Center is free; some activities require tickets. Click here for a map of the Visitor Center and Museum and its surrounding grounds.

Gettysburg Visitor Center

April 1 to October 31: 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
November 1 to March 31: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Gettysburg Battlefield
April 1 to October 31: 6 a.m. – 10 p.m.
November 1 to March 31: 6 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Hours are subject to change. The Museum and Visitor Center is open 362 days a year, closed only on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. Call 866-889-1243 or 717-334-1124 to check operating hours and weather, emergency and pre-holiday closures.

Reserve a Licensed Battlefield Guide, take a Battlefield Bus Tour, or tour on your own using a CD or field guide book that can be purchased at the Museum Bookstore. Whether a first-time or returning visitor, each Park Ranger program and tour with Licensed Battlefield Guide is always unique, as different rangers and guides offer different perspectives on the battle.


Set aside some time to walk the Gettysburg Battlefield and study the monuments.
