Bus and Car Tours of the Gettysburg Battlefield

Close to 1,400 monuments and markers dot the landscape of the 6,000-acre Gettysburg Battlefield, and Gettysburg Battlefield tours are great ways to experience history at Gettysburg National Military Park. Before You Embark on Gettysburg Battlefield Tours

You will want to begin with the Cyclorama, Film and Museum Experience at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center. Three inspiring venues combine to help you understand the Battle of Gettysburg and its important role in our nation’s history and will prepare you for your battlefield experience.

Gettysburg Battlefield Tours by Car with a Licensed Battlefield Guide

Hire a personal Licensed Battlefield Guide who will drive your car and take you on a two-hour tour of the battlefield. These guides train for years, pass extensive tests to qualify to give tours and are licensed by the National Park Service. Guides are available daily, but advance reservations for Licensed Battlefield Guide tours are strongly recommended. (Please note that reservations for Licensed Battlefield Guides must be made no later than three days in advance of the tour.)

Gettysburg Battlefield Tours by Bus with a Licensed Battlefield Guide

Gettysburg battlefield tours are also available by bus. A Licensed Battlefield Guide will lead your tour on a climate-controlled motor coach, and you will leave the bus a few times during the tour to walk on this hallowed ground. Purchase battlefield bus tour tickets at the ticket counter in the lobby of the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center. Advance reservations are also available for Gettysburg battlefield bus tours.

Audio CD Tours

Tour the Gettysburg battlefield at your own pace with an audio CD you can listen to in your car. These narrated battlefield CD tours can be purchased in the Museum Bookstore.

Self-Guided Auto Tour

Pick up a self-guided auto tour map from the Museum and Visitor Center and explore the Gettysburg battlefield by car.
