Title:   Membership and Development Intern

Supervisor: Membership and Development Operations Manager

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

The Membership and Development Intern will assist the department in Non-Profit Management, Development and Fundraising.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in preparation of proposals to companies and foundations
  • Learn the details of membership recruitment through direct mail and visitor
  • interaction
  • Maintain the database, including creating and updating records and performing data entry functions.
  • Perform research on current and potential funding sources
  • Participate in meetings and compile information for development staff about prospects
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of member and special events
  • May work on Membership Board of Director committee with the Department head
  • Other duties as required

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Enrolled in an accredited college program and have completed sophomore year
  • Have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Enrolled in non-profit management or a related major
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Interest in learning the details of fundraising for  national battlefield preservation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel
  • Database experience or accounting experience a plus
