Title:  Marketing and Communications Intern

Supervisor:  Marketing and Communications Manager

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

The Marketing and Communications Intern will assist the department in all aspects of communication, with an emphasis on website, e-marketing and social media.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Functions may include:

  • Making recommendations for web marketing strategy
  •  Making recommendations for social media strategy
  •  Updating social media outlets
  • Monitoring social media outlets
  • Generating reports on website and social media statistics
  •  Assisting with Web site updates
  • Assisting with press release writing and distribution and media list updates
  • Assisting with special-event planning (press conferences, etc.)
  •  Assisting with/observing media interviews
  • Assisting with customer service through visitor services and ticketing
  • Writing newsletter articles
  • Conducting market research
  • Editing and proofreading various print and electronic materials
  • May work on Marketing and Communications Board of Director committee with the Department head
  • Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Enrolled in a college program and have completed sophomore year
  • Have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Enrolled as a communication, marketing or other relevant major
  • Ability to work alone or as a team
  • Hands-on experience with multiple computer programs
  • Problem-solving skills and good judgment
  • Strong writing skills
  • Some experience helpful, but need not be extensive (college or high school newspaper, etc.)
  • Attention to detail
